About The Smaller Stage

• The Smaller Stage is our venue located on the terrace, housed in a large marquee. In the summer months this marquee converts to become The Rose Stage for bands to perform out to the garden. Then, from September, we change things around so it becomes a venue in its own right with a smaller stage at the far end. That's why we call it The Smaller Stage!
• The venue is heated.
• Access to The Smaller Stage is from the side door of the bar down a flight of stairs.
• Depending on the event, food might be served in the venue itself or tables allocated in the pub for dining before the show. Information on specific events will be on our What's On page and detailed on the appropriate food menu below.
• Doors to The Smaller Stage usually open at 6:30pm although the pub itself will be open earlier.
• Performances will usually start between 8pm and 8:30pm and finishing no later than 11pm.
• Upon arrival please make your way up the main stairs into the pub to check in. If it is a ticketed event, you may need your proof of ticket purchase (receipt). We will need the name of the person who purchased your ticket. If it is a free entry event you will need to have booked with us using the Booking Form.
• If you wish to eat here before the gig commences, please pre-order your meals from the appropriate event menu. The current Smaller Stage menu is below. All food must be pre-ordered at least 24 hours before the show using the Booking Form for that event. Please pay for your meals in cash on the night.
• We do not allocate seats so please choose your own on arrival. Some events may have a mix of seating and standing, others just standing. Check the listing on our What's On page.
• Tickets are non-refundable.
• Please note you do not get a physical ticket.If it a paid event you should keep your receipt as proof of purchase in case of queries on the day of the event.
  

Car Parking and Travel

• Car parking is limited to our car park. In dry conditions we also open our overflow on the bottom lawn of the garden. We encourage you to car share, get a lift walk or ride to save space. It's better for the environment too!

• There is no on-street parking locally.
• The nearest railway stations are at Reading and Twyford. 
• There are no local bus stops. If you're travelling by rail we would recommend booking a taxi to the pub. We use Loddon Cars as our local taxi service. Call (0118) 9321321.
