The Flowing Spring
The Flowing Spring is located on the A4155 Henley Road between Reading and Henley-On-Thames on the edge of the Chilterns.

GETTING HERE BY ROAD
FROM READING OR OXFORD
From Reading or Oxford, take the road through Caversham onto the A4155. After the Sonning roundabout you will find us about half a mile along the Henley Road on the right hand side. Turn right directly after the pub and right again into our car park.
FROM HENLEY AND MARLOW
From Henley and Marlow, take the A4155 out of Henley towards Reading. Go through Shiplake and continue over the hills, round a sharp bend and, as you descend the final hill you will see the Flowing Spring on your left. Turn left before the pub and right into the car park.
FROM THE M4
From the M4 travelling west, come off at junction 8/9 and head towards High Wycombe. Come off at the roundabout signposted A4, turning left towards Reading. After around 4 miles, at the roundabout signposted Charvil and Sonning, turn right, going through the village of Sonning. At the end, having crossed the Thames, turn right onto the A4155 towards Henley. You will find us about half a mile along the Henley Road on the right hand side. Turn right directly after the pub and right again into our car park.
From the M4 travelling east, come off at junction 10 (A329M) and head towards Reading. Come off the A329(M) at the Reading junction onto the A4, turning right signposted Maidenhead. At the roundabout signposted Woodley (right) and Sonning (left), turn left through the village of Sonning. At the end, having crossed the Thames, turn right onto the A4155 towards Henley. You will find us about half a mile along the Henley Road on the right hand side. Turn right directly after the pub and right again into our car park.

GETTING HERE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The local buses are Arriva 800 and 850 travelling between Reading and Henley. The nearest bus stop is by the Playhatch roundabout. Please see our Walks map for directions from there.
The nearest railway stations are Twyford, Henley-On-Thames and Reading.
WALKING HERE FROM THE GREAT HOUSE AT SONNING
Here are the directions for walking from the Great House to our pub, avoiding the main road:
Come out of the Great House and walk towards the traffic lights. Cross the road at the lights and cross both bridges over the Thames at Sonning. Keep to the left hand side of the road. Once you have crossed the second bridge, turn left along the footpath by the river and follow it round the back of the French Horn car park and through the alley between the houses. This takes you into the quiet village of Sonning Eye.
Then turn left out of the alley and then bear right at the end. Continue straight on. You will pass the track to Reading Sailing Club on your left. Keep going straight on to the end of the road.
Go through the farm gate. You will see a gate opposite. Cross the main road and go through the gate. This takes you along a footpath parallel with Spring Lane. You pass the allotments. Keep going along the path to the end where you then have to get onto the lane. Go over the little bridge in front of you and you'll see our pub ahead on the left.
It takes around 20 minutes to walk.
